PRODUCER: _________________________________________________________________Artist____________________________________ I`m supposed to deliver six master recordings without prepayment. I have to cover all the costs of recording, mixing and mastering in the studio.

I`m also basically going to co-write and list everything about the songs except their voices and lyrics. We`ve already worked on a song and what happened in the end was she was in the studio for six hours and did the vocals while I was working on the track for two months. She wants to own 50% of the master recordings and parts of the writing/editing. Their reasoning is that it gives their management team a better chance of getting a distribution/label deal for them. In my opinion and I could be wrong if she only got the regular share of the artist of 15-20% on the master recordings. Writing/publishing must be 50/50. I believe that the right of administration for 12-18 months to shop for an agreement is fair. Thoughts? Would I also cover my costs from their distribution/label advance or total income? Thank you in advance. Cheers, Andy This Music Producer Agreement (this “Music Producer Agreement”) is the sole and complete agreement between [NAME OF PRODUCER], with an address at [ADDRESS] (hereinafter referred to as the “Producer”) and [NAME OF THE ARTIST], with an address at [ADDRESS] (hereinafter referred to as the “Artist”) for the services of the Producer in the production of master recordings (hereinafter referred to as the “Master”) for and by the Artist. If they already know that you will be busy publishing and/or promoting the work, you may want to write a group agreement and add words that explain what you will do and how you will be compensated. 4.

In the event that commercial sales are made through a record contract/record company agreement and one (l) or more of the recordings (whether edited or remixed) are marketed by the record company, the producer is entitled to a proportionate share of the producers` royalties from the sale of these records incorporating the recordings (or one of them). based on the ratio of the number of records to the total number of records embedded in the record. The producer is also entitled to receive the corresponding credit for the recordings contained in these recordings. 3. In the event that the artist makes commercial sales of recordings, whether through Internet sales, self-promotion, a hosting contract or in any way, the producer is entitled to a royalty of ____ % of the recommended retail price of the commercially produced recording. The Producer remains the sole copyright holder of all materials that belong exclusively to it, including unique musical compositions or instrumental productions specifically provided by the Producer or to which the Producer has substantially completed such Musical Compositions under this Agreement. The parties therefore agree that, although the instrumental productions of the producer are an integral part of the above recording, the uniqueness of these instrumentals is also an integral part of the musical personality of the producer and that, therefore, the producer reserves the right to use the above instrumental compositions for other recordings outside of this agreement and without the permission of the artist, and/or for sale. The deal came with another producer royalty clause called Net Receipts, which I ended up keeping, including the Sound Exhange royalties. I basically have the compensation setup as a repayable advance that goes against the points on the album or EP, based on the “Net Receipts” model rather than the traditional SRLP model. Basically, the artist kept books and accounts on his online distributor`s record sales like TuneCore or Distrokid and they would have repaid the money they paid me, and then they started paying me record royalties from their distributor.

I check the artist`s books based on written references to check for accuracy, etc. So, are you ready to design your own music contract template, but you don`t know where to start?
